UNDERSTANDING DESCRIPTION TEXT 

1.     Definition 

Description text contains a description of a certain

a.     object
b.     place
c.     event
so that the reader can
a.     feel
b.     see
c.     smell
d.     hear

2.     The generic structure of descriptive text is : 

a.      Identification  

General description of a topic. This section is usually in the first paragraph. The structure of this descriptive text aims to describe what will be discussed in the paragraph. That's why it's just general information. 

b.     Descriptions    

The description contains the special characteristics of the thing, place, or person being described. In this section, the discussion is specific. We can describe the object we choose in more detail. 

3.     The sentences used in descriptive text are : 

Detailed sentences or sentences that aim to detail or explain an object to make it more concrete and  clarify sensory impressions for readers. 

4.     Sample of Descriptive Text

                                                    Tiger                                 

  Tigers are included in the largest cat species with a characteristic   sound and stripes on their fur. Including wild animals, tigers should     not be approached carelessly, including when in the zoo. 

         In search of food, tigers usually hunt prey such as rabbits, deer,       deer and others. Having the ability to run very fast makes it easy for     tigers to chase their prey.

Candi Borobudur 

 Borobudur temple is one of the most beautiful tourist resorts in Indonesia. It is situated 

in central Java. Borobudur temple is one of the seven wonders of the world which needs to be preserved its circumstances. The people all over the world know that Borobudur is one of the greatest art works that ever known since long time ago. Borobudur temple was built by Syailendra Dynasty during the eighth century. It needed more than two million river stones. It is the biggest temple in the world. 

         After going into some restorations, Borobudur is visited by more and more tourists, both domestic and foreign tourists. Most of them admire Borobudur temple because of its beauty, its elegance and the story of the relief on its walls. 

         Domestic tourists usually go there by bus or private cars, while foreign tourists like to join travel bureau because they don’t need to think of the transportation, accommodation, and itinerary. There are some money changers around the location. It makes them easier to change their money. But some of them like to bring credit cards and checks.

 My Room 

 My room is in second floor, next to my big sister’s room. My room is painted light grey. There

is big bed inside my room where I sleep every day. I put some pictures on my desk. There are my family picture, my picture with my friends, and my pictures with my pet, Luna, a persian cat. I also have drawers where I put all my clothes inside. My room is not big, but it is the best place in my house for me .

My School

My school is called SMK N 4 Semarang. which is located on Jalan Pandanaran 2 number 7, Semarang.

My school looks beautiful, there are lots of big trees which make the air around it very cool and fresh. There are 3 courts in my school namely basketball court, ceremonial court, and badminton court. The ceremonial field at my school is quite wide, equipped with a flagpole. The basketball court is also wide, equipped with 2 basketball hoops and 2 goals. and badminton court, not too wide but enough for badminton.

Books published by Erlangga with authors namely Arif Ediyanto and Maya Harsasi. Rectangle shape. The book is quite thick. The quality of the paper is good, not too thin so it doesn't tear easily. This book has very complete contents regarding mathematics for class 10 SMK or SMA.

PAI

Islamic religious education book and manners. Rectangle shape. It has an interesting book cover because there is a picture of a mosque and people working together. The cover is dominated by blue. Good paper quality. The contents of this book teach knowledge of the Islamic religion and manners for grade 10 students. It also includes pieces of verses from the Koran which make this book interesting. Compiled by the ministry of education and the ministry of religion of the republic of Indonesia, year 2021.

IPAS

Science package book for grade 10 vocational students. The book is rectangular in shape. The book is thick and interesting. Equipped with qrcode and practice questions in each material. The contents of the book are very complete discussing physics, biology, and chemistry. The cover is dominated by orange. The cover of the book is quite interesting, there is a picture of a land surveyor. Good quality paper, not easy to tear.

Informatika (modul)

The module is provided in pdf format. has an interesting module cover. The model is dominated by blue and white.In general, the basic material includes mind mapping basic material, basic introduction to informatics programs, office applications, software and the science of building strength calculations. This module is packaged per material so that students can understand the material practically.
